ad I’ve always liked Dobson & Parnell, but I did think a change was needed and their new upgrade and menu has done just that.

They’ve reopened after a full refurb for their 10 year anniversary, and it feels a lot more suited to how people go out for food these days. I think a lot of that is down to the fact that eating out isn’t cheap at all, so if people are spending money they need a guaranteed good meal.

I’m asked on a weekly basis where to go for sharer plates and wine or cocktails - @dobsonandparnell is now right up there on the list.

You can still go for a full three course meal, but it’s not locked into that. The new layout is more open, there’s a bar area with open kitchen making it feel a lot more relaxed and social.

Food wise we had a mix of plates and a couple of cocktails and it worked really well - very good quality, really well cooked. It’s a modern British with a few twists, all seasonal, and they’re big on a zero waste approach which I like. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into it. Whatever you order get a side of potato’s or chips they were so good.

With everything combined it’s now somewhere you could go for an occasion, or just for good food and a drink on the quayside.

I’m gonna start by saying this is maybe the best pizza we’ve ever had. Springy, aerated biga dough bases with crispy, caramelised frico crown edges, piled high with flavour. It is REALLY good pizza. Super thick but light and bursting with flavour. Lockup is such a cool venue, think mood lighting, an open terrace overlooking the ouseburn and curated cocktails… the perfect pairing for huge pizza slabs 💘 They come in two sizes, 6x6 or 10x8… they are massive. Such incredible value for money, I struggled to even finish a 6x6! Prices from just 7 quid!
